Water District Rebate

The Contra Costa Water District has a Lawn to Garden Rebate Program that provides rebates to qualified customers to replace their existing water-thirsty front lawns with water-wise landscaping. The rebate is $1 per square foot with a maximum of $1,000 per single-family residence and up to $20,000 for commercial, homeowner associations, industrial and institutional properties. The program is not retroactive.

Contra Costa Senior Legal Services

Available by telephone

CCSLS is available to consult with clients about urgent matters such as tenants’ rights, prevention of elder abuse, and debtors’ rights. They are also available to assist with Advance Health Care Directives and legal consults by telephone. All other less urgent matters and those requiring in-person visits can be scheduled after the shelter in place has lifted.

CCSLS is open and is available by telephone. Staff is working remotely, so please leave a message and your call will be returned as quickly as possible.

Free AARP Tax Aide

Before the Covid Shutdown, volunteers offered in-person help with tax preparation at the Senior Center sponsored by AARP. The Senior Center is temporarily closed and no tax help is available there. People who are seeking help can call the AARP Tax Aide Appointment Line (St. Paul’s Scan Center) at (925) 979-5013. They have a voicemail that is updated periodically, and if available, they will provide appointments.
