by Fred Rentschler, WC Seniors Club President
This month I can finally give you some concrete information on the reopening of the Seniors Center and new procedures that will be in place. First, The Seniors Center will open on Thursday, September 9th. The Center hours will be from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday through Thursday. During business hours there will be a City employee at the front desk to assist you. The new hours are due to budget constraints forced on the City by the Covid epidemic.
Also, with the current Covid guidelines still in effect, before you can enter the building The City will have a simple health screening questionnaire that you can access from your smart phone or answer in person. There will be no restrictions in the building for social distancing but masks may still be required in the building depending on the regulations still in effect in September. Things will be different but if we all show some patience, we can work this out fairly easily.
There will also be some changes in the way The Club does business. The drop-in fee for group meetings that used to be optional will be raised to $2 and will be required this year. The major change will be The Club going to an electronic system that will issue membership cards with a bar code to everyone that will allow you to enter the building and prepay the group drop-in fee. This is a complicated system and, to be honest, there will be a learning curve, both for you and us until we get the system working smoothly. So again, expect changes, expect some confusion and expect a return to normalcy soon.
